PRC Club Championship 2010

Last Thursday evening Pickering Running Club held their Annual Club Championship in Dalby Forest.  Conditions were fine, cool and perfect for running.  23 members competed over the beautiful and varied 10k course.  Starting from High Staindale, they climbed past the Bridestones, enjoyed the panoramic views on Crosscliff Brow before descending Peathead Rigg to the finish.

The organising committee, led by Vanessa Buckle should be thanked for organising a very well managed event.  The team of race marshalls were made up of club members, friends and family and the runners were grateful for their efforts and encouragement.

Overall winner was the magnificent Graham Harrison who completed the course in just over 45 minutes to claim the Men’s Title.  Martin Connell continued his good recent form to claim the Men’s Over 40s Title.  Evergreen Mike Hetherton claimed the Veteran’s Shield.

In the ladies section Tess Roebuck reigned supreme, reclaiming the crown she last won in 2006.  Clare Anderson took the prize for the first of the younger ladies back.  An ecstatic Philly Hare won the ladies veteran’s award, allegedly her first sporting prize ever!

There were good performances throughout the field, notably form Karen Loseby and Paul Marks who both ran very well but failed to get amongst the silverware.
