Thornton-Le-Clay 10K and Anglesey Marathon

Sunday’s wet weather failed to dampen the enthusiasm of 200 runners taking part in the Foston and Thornton-Le-Clay 10k and 6k races.  This 10k race marked the welcome return of veteran Syd Youngson following a hip operation last winter.  This was Syd’s first race for 2 years and he completed his comeback in 68 mins 21 secs, just 2 mins outside his time on the same course 2 years ago.  Andy Harvey, also returning from minor surgery, completed the 10k course in 46mins 32secs. Pickering’s Dave Simpson skipped around the 6k course in just under 30 mins.  This was a family affair for Dave because his wife Jackie and son Joe also took part.

Last week Terry Greene tackled the Anglesey marathon.  There were perfect conditions on Ynys Mon, with sunny intervals and hardly a breath of wind.  The first half of the race is an easy ascent to the coast, followed by the gruelling climb back inland.  Terry completed the course in 4 hours 16 mins.
