23 December 2017 - PRC Christmas cheer!

A hardy bunch of PRC runners made the trip up to Loftus for the annual Poultry Run which had everyone running for their dinner with a range of frozen turkeys up for grabs for the winners.  The weather was not pleasant with driving rains, sideways sleet and a chilly fog but this wasn’t a problem for the hardy runners over the 8 mile course which took in some challenging climbs and muddy sections with treacherous icy downhill sections on the road.

First back for the club was Lizzy Wise in 1.08.19 who was disappointed to be slower than last year but happy considering the terrible weather.  The brass band played in a triumphant Mike Hetherton who finished in 1.11.59 to claim second in the over 70s category.  Sue Slack finished with a smile in 1.14.11 closely followed by Lynn Humpleby and Serena Partridge who crossed the line together in 1.15.34 sporting delightful tutus!

Next back were mother and daughter Nicola and Jennifer Wise crossing the line in 1.23.32 earning a bottle of wine as a spot prize for their festive dresses.  Dean Wise rounded off the gang finishing well, especially after a fall the day before in the ice, in 1.38.05.

The results are out for the 2017 Hardmoors race series and PRC are looking strong.  In the full marathon series, a big well done to Rachael Harper who ran well in the 7 races over the year taking 1st lady.  Michael Todd put in a strong performance to take the 2nd male spot with brother Richard in 4th.  In the half marathon series Simon Jones was the clear leader taking the top spot by a good margin and last but not least Jane Todd ran very well to finish as second lady.
