PRC members weren’t taking a long break for Christmas perhaps due to the need to run off all the delicious food!  Wednesday 27 December saw the latest in the Esk Valley Dave Parry Winter Series held at Guisborough Woods which had a bumper turn out with over 200 competitors.  The worst of the weather held off and seven members were present to take on the 5 mile course over three laps of varying terrain including some tough ascents and very slippery muddy downhill sections.  First back was Simon Rycroft in a speedy 45.11 to give him 29th place and 3rd in his age category.  Russ Grayson employed is trademark pace to finish in 48th place in 48.42 and Paul Smith was fearless downhill to finish next in 56.14. Kim Cavill and Nick Cousins were neck and neck to finish only 1 second apart in 57.21 and 57.22 respectively.  Mike Hetherton ran well to get home in 62.54 earning him 3rd place in his age category.  Debbie Rycroft rounded off the group to finish in 67.03 really pleased that she stayed on her feet downhill through the mud.

Chris Adams wasn’t letting a holiday get in the way of a race as he took part in a 10 mile run on boxing day near Niagara Falls in Canada.  He wrapped up warm to face temperatures of -15 degrees Celsius (more like -23 with wind chill) and enjoyed the beautiful scenery but particularly the blanket and hot soup handed out to all finishers at the end.

David Hinchliffe took park in a Christmas pudding dash on boxing day while visiting family in Whitley Bay, even convincing a few of them to join him!  Over 1,000 people took on the 5k route which was a very pleasant out and back along the sea front and the Christmas feasting the day before didn’t slow David down too much and he was pleased to receive his Christmas pudding at the finish line.
