Pickering Running Club continued 2018 in great form in races over the second weekend of the year.

A group of club runners took on the LDWA Filey Flier, with both a short and long course on offer to runners and walkers. Russ Charlton, Mike Wilson and Debbie Rycroft did the short 16 mile route, and Russ Grayson took on the challenge of the 23 mile long course. The Cleveland Way section of the route provided plenty of mud, but conditions underfoot were better inland. Russ Grayson completed the long course in the nifty time of 3 hours 29, a good start to his preparation for the 3 Peaks in April. Debbie Rycroft had a fantastic result on the short course, battling through the mud, hail and high winds and a navigational mishap to take first lady.

Lizzy Wise took on the Sir Titus Trot half marathon, a scenic out and back course from Saltaire along the Leeds Liverpool canal. The route was generally flat with the exception of the climb up the Bingley 5 locks, and Lizzy completed the course in a smashing time of 1 hour 52 minutes – a great result.

Following last week’s report, there is an additional club result to announce for the Hardmoors 15 on 1st January. Juliette Pilgrim, a new member to the club, completed this challenging course in a nifty time of 2 hours 37, to take 7th lady position.
