PRC tackle the trails

Temple Newsam, near Leeds, was host to almost 1,000 runners over the weekend for the 10 mile trail race.  The course was muddy and rocky with all the steep climbs saved for the last part of the course once the racers are nice and tired!  Enjoying the challenge were the Tolhursts, Adrian didn’t let the hills slow him down to finish strong in 1.17.23 with wife Sarah not too far behind in 1.31.26 who enjoyed the course despite being a little slower than last year.  Also having fun in the mud was Lizzy Wise who was happy to finish in just under 90 minutes in 1.29.16 and hopes to be back next year.

Further afield Kim Cavill is combining her travels in Europe with some serious racing.  The latest challenge was the Trail Blanc Mouthe which took place at night near the Swiss border and covered 19k with a very challenging 600m of ascent.  The route covered some gnarly trails through the trees and as expected at this time of year the course was covered in snow which made the going tough as it had frozen and melted over the last few days to leave large holes to stumble into.  Racing with around 900 other people Kim threw herself downhill overtaking the more timid continental runners to finish a highly respectable 12th female and in the top half of the field overall.  Kim had loads of fun and was really pleased with her placing and even more pleased with the cheese, wine and sausages handed out at the finish!
