Pickering Running Club ladies were out in force for the Dalby Forest No Ego Headtorch Challenge on January 28th, joining over 500 other competitors for the demanding night-time 5 mile race through the trails of Dalby.

Melissa Huntsman had a great race, coming in first for Pickering ladies in 50 minutes 28 seconds, closely followed by Ruth Kaftirani in a nifty 51 minutes 40 seconds.  Jennifer Buck was very pleased to knock over 4 minutes from her 2016 race time, crossing the line in 52 minutes 2 seconds.  Amanda Welburn-Smith had a challenging evening due to a failing headtorch for most of the race, but still managed to take a few seconds off her 2017 time, completing in 52 minutes 40 seconds.  Tess Roebuck crossed the line in 53 minutes 44 seconds, with Ann Kelly completing a great evening for Pickering with her time of 1 hour 19 minutes.

Kim Cavill, continuing her adventures overseas, took part in the Winter Des Patrouilleurs in Crans Montana in Switzerland. This 11 and a half mile race took runners over 2700 feet of climbing through deep heavy snow with more falling during the event, making conditions very challenging. Kim battled through the snow to finish in the fantastic time of 2 hours, 16 minutes and 55 seconds position and 8th lady overall, after managing to take overtake 2 other female competitors in the last few minutes. Kim was delighted with her result and with the great goodie bag of local food given to all competitors!
