Here Comes the Sun...

The sun shone on a great Bank Holiday weekend of running for PRC.

In the Kirkbymoorside 10k, PRC runners got some great results despite the very hot conditions. Ben Myers was home first for the club in 40:15 and 14th place overall, followed by Paul Robinson in 44:14 and 2nd in his age category. New club member Jonny Everitt came in at 43:05, with Paul Smith in 44:30 and Rich Johnson in 47:14. Kelly Gaughan was first back for PRC ladies in 51:08, with Ruth Kaftirani on her tail in 51:23. Gemma Fearnley crossed the line in 52:36, and Lizzy Wise in 53:41.  Mike Hetherton was next to finish in 55:29, followed by Paul Tate-Smith in 57:50 and Philip Jackson in 58:47. Jennifer Wise finished in 58:49, followed by mum Nicola in 1:00:52. Sally Edwards finished in 1:02:40, Pam Garnett in 1:06:35, Mike Punchard in 1:10:35 and Dean Wise in 1:15:24.

Sally Brown and Hilary Turner took on Driffield Triathlon, with some impressive results. Sally completed her first triathlon in 1:43:38, and Hilary crossed the line in 1:47:28.

Further afield, Amanda Welburn-Smith competed in the Keswick half marathon. In really warm conditions and a challenging hilly course, Amanda was very pleased with her time of 2:10.  Simon Tyrell completed another international marathon, this time in Prague, achieving another PB of 3:30:10.

In the always popular Hardmoors race series, the Wainstones event took place on 29th April. In the marathon, Bridget Houlston was 1st back for PRC, 13th overall and 1st lady in 4:52:30, followed by Ben Myers in 5:22:56 hours, Juliette Pilgrim in 6:26:07 and Philly Hare in 7:53:16 and 2nd in age category.  Simon Jones managed an epic 2nd male place in the half marathon after Three Peaks on Saturday, in 2:03:20. Amanda Welburn-Smith completed the half in 3:00:04, followed just 12 seconds later by Serena Partridge. Clare Mawrey had a great run, crossing the line in 3:05:05, with Jenny Storrie finishing in 3:07:32.

The Dave Parry/Northern Runner Winter Fell Race Series 2017/2018 results were announced, with some great results for PRC. PRC took home 5 first places in age categories, for Russ Grayson, Simon Rycroft, Debbie Rycroft, Hilary Turner and Rachael Harper.  In the team prizes, PRC Men’s ‘A’ team came 2nd overall, with the ‘B’ team in 5th place. The ladies ‘A’ team took 1st place, with the ‘B’ team at 4th place.
