May Bank Holiday runs in the sun

Over the sunny Bank Holiday weekend, intrepid ultra runners took on one of the toughest local challenges, the Hardmoors 110 mile race. Runners have just 36 hours to run along the Cleveland Way, from Filey to Helmsley.  Michael Todd finished in a fantastic 2nd place overall, in 24:47:24. Kim Cavill ran the first 25 miles of the route as part of a relay team, completing the Filey to Robin Hoods Bay section at a blistering pace, in just 4 hours 9 minutes, despite hot weather and a headwind. Kim helped the team to complete the course in just 20 hours 38 minutes.

Jennifer Wise took part in the Blackpool Promenade 10 miler, a fast but undulating course around the coastal front of Blackpool.  It was a hot day in Blackpool which made the race very tough. Jennifer was disappointed with her time of 1:36:54 but happy to survive, and enjoyed the ice cream afterwards!

Closer to home, Philip Jackson and Mike Punchard joined over 300 other runners for a 10k event near Ripon, starting and finishing in Melmerby village. Philip completed the road race in an impressive 54:16, followed by Mike in 1:04:50.
