On a lovely sunny but breezy evening a plucky group of 6 PRC runners headed up to Castleton for the Fox and Hounds fell race, part of the Esk Valley summer race series.  50 runners took on the tough 9 mile course which included a challenging 1,500m ascent across the undulating terrain leaving the legs feeling like jelly.  Russ Grayson was the first back in 1.16.17 taking 11th place, Nick Cousins 1.29.49 was just ahead of Rachael Harper in 1.30.24 and Russell Charlton in 1.31.02. Next back was Serena Partridge in 1.55.03 and the crew were rounded off by Michael Hetherton in 1.59.44.

The Roseberry romp fell race was an alternative for 4 other PRC runners who joined almost 200 runners who took on the 5 mile dash up to the top of Roseberry Topping to enjoy the speedy downhill finish. First back for the club was Graham Robinson in 55.19, followed by Sue Slack who showed no fear to finish in 57.27 with David Stephenson not far behind in 58.35.  Philly Hare rounded off the team finishing in 1.10.28.

The next round of the York and District 10k Road Race League took place in Easingwold with an undulating course in the chilly evening sunshine. It was another great turnout for the club with 25 competitors taking part.  First back was Simon Jones (37.45) with Peter Allen only one second behind (37.46). Next back were Paul Robinson (43.11), Simon Tyrell (44.07), Andy Harvey with a new pb (44.31), Mike Wilson (45.43) and another pb for Chris Adams (45.34), Nick Cousins (47.40) was next and a battle took place behind him with Kelly Gaughan and Ruth Kaftirani scoring a new pb both finishing in 47.48.  They were followed by Lizzy Wise (48.23), Gemma Fearnley (48.54), Heather Farrow (49.54), Serena Partridge (50.01), Debbie Rycroft (50.15), Paul Tate-Smith (50.23) and Jenny Storrrie (50.38).  Next back were Kate Towse (52.15), Jane Simpson (52.43), Jennifer Wise (54.42), Nicola Wise (56.42), Sally Brown (59.45), Shirley Tyrell (1.00.08) and the team were rounded off by Mike Punchard who put in a great sprint finish to the cheers of the rest of the team in 1.02.04.

Pam Garnett travelled west to take part in the Manchester half with 1000’s of others.  Pam struggled in the heat but battled on with the amazing atmosphere helping her to finish in an amazing 2.30.22.

Seven PRC members headed to sunny Ravenscar for a half marathon raising money for the Scarborough & Ryedale Mountain Rescue team.  The course headed to Cloughton along the cinder track and then followed the undulating coastal path back to Ravenscar with pockets of sea fret to cool the runners down.  Peter Allen ran a superb race to finish in 7th place in 1.39.05.  Michael Richmond was next in 12th place in 1.41.07 with Kim Cavill not far behind in 1.55.36 as the third in her category. Amanda Welburn-Smith ran strong despite having some foot problems in her new shoes to finish in 2.25.16.  Mother and daughter pair Nicola and Lizzy Wise stuck together to finish in 2.34.53 with father Dean rounding off the runners in 3.24.18.
