In the last week, PRC runners have taken on challenges across hills and roads, and even taking on some international events.

Whilst on holiday in San Franciso, Ben Myers entered the Bay to Breakers 12k. Starting downtown in the financial district, the route took the over 24,000 runners through the city and Golden Gate park before finishing at Ocean Beach. Ben ran well to finish 344th, crossing the line in 50:16.

Closer to home, Kim Cavill tackled the Calderdale Way ultra, a very hilly 28.5 mile course.  The route was very scenic, through beautiful moorlands and woods, but challenging. The course was unmarked, needing some expert navigational skills from Kim. Kim overcame a few minor navigational mishaps to come a fantastic 2nd lady and 4th overall in 5:06:00.

Alex Thornton and Rachael Harper represented PRC at the Ossy Oiks fell race, the 4th counter in the Esk Valley Dave Parry/ Let’s Run summer fell race series. This short but hilly race 5 mile race finished with a challenging scramble down a steep hillside and a few navigational errors for some runners. Alex crossed the line in 56:43, followed by Rachael in 57:45 (8th lady).

On the road, nearly 400 runners set off on a sunny evening to take on the Knavesmire course of the 10k York District Road Race League. Simon Jones was first back for the club in 37:55, followed by Peter Allen in 38:21, Paul Robinson in 42:18, Andy Harvey in 44:19, and Mike Hetherton in 45:44 and 2nd in his category. Ruth Kaftirani was first home for PRC ladies in 48:05, with Lizzy Wise hot on her heels in 48:31, Kelly Gaughan in 49:03, Paul Tate-Smith in 49:05, Heather Farrow in 49:17, Jenny Storrie in 49:48 and Serena Partridge in 50:19.  Jane Simpson was next to cross the line in 50:37, followed by Harriet Warnock in 51:11, Kate Towse in 52:09, Jennifer Wise in 53:51, Nicola Wise in 54:59, Mike Punchard in 1:04:57, Dean Wise in 1:06:53 and Kat Smith in 1:07:52.
