Summer of running

During the sweltering hot weekend, Kim Cavill took on the challenge of Endure 24. This epic event challenges runners to complete as many laps of a 5 mile course in Bramham park as they can in 24 hours.  The course was undulating, and the ground was hard-packed, gravelly and dusty, making it tough on tired legs. With lots of ice lollies to get her through, Kim kept going through the 24 hour period, managing to complete 115 miles in 24:46:00. Kim took a strong first lady place, coming in 2 hours ahead of second lady and third overall, and set a course record.  An amazing result!

The weather didn’t let up for PRC runners taking part in the 6th race in the York & District Road Race League in Wistow on 3rd July. 266 runners braved the heat and missed the England World Cup game to take on the fast and flat 10k course.  Paul Robinson was first back for PRC in 42:01, followed by Andy Harvey in 44:29. Michael Hetherton crossed the line in 47:50, coming first in his category for the race, and also taking the category win for the full series.

Serena Partridge was first home for PRC ladies in 48:28, closely followed by Kelly Gaughan in 49:04 and Lizzy Wise in 49:23. Jenny Storrie crossed the line in 50:38, followed by Jane Simpson in 52:11, Debbie Rycroft in 52:56, Nicola Wise in 55:43, Jennifer Wise in 57:03, Mike Punchard 1:03:09 and Dean Wise in 1:10:41.

Further afield, Pam Garnett joined the Park Run in Toulouse. While there were only 14 runners, it was enjoyable to try out a new Park Run location.
