It may be holiday season, but PRCers do not let being on holiday stand in the way of racing!

While in Jersey, Kate Towse completed the Jayson Lee Memorial 10k. This race took runners along a scenic coastal route for the first 5k, with the final 5k along undulating road, finishing on an athletics track. Kate was very pleased with her time of 53:31.

On the South coast, Rachael Harper joined over 130 local runners for the Sussex trail event ‘13.1 The Hard Way’, a challenging trail half marathon. The there and back route along the South Downs Way took in some beautiful views and some tough hills. Rachael found the return leg tough with some niggling injuries, but was pleased to finish this friendly event in 2:22:23.

4 club members travelled over to the Lake District to take on the Bassenthwaite triathlon. Steve Riley did the Olympic distance, with a 1500m swim, 40k bike ride and 10k run. Rosie Riley, Sue Slack and Sally Brown did the sprint event, comprising of a 750m swim, 25k bike ride and 6k run. This is a scenic but challenging triathlon, with both the bike and run taking competitors over the undulating hills around Bassenthwaite Lake. This was Sally’s first open water tri, and she overcame her open water swimming demons to complete the swim in an impressive 19:33, and finished the event in 2:21:01 and 3rd in category. Sue crossed the line 3rd in category and 82nd overall in 1:59:32, and Rosie was 4th in her category, completing in 2:02:44. Steve completed the Olympic distance in 2:44:17, finishing 56th out of 188 competitors. A great result for everyone!

Kim Cavill and husband Jayson made a last minute entry to a short relay race up a very steep ski track in Morzine, finishing first mixed couple.

Simon and Debbie Rycroft travelled over to Tywyn in Wales to ‘Chase The Train’, a 14 mile race that challenges competitors to beat a steam train to its destination. Simon completed the course in 1:40:29, beating the train by 8 minutes.  Debbie crossed the line in 2:16:56, feeling strong and having enjoyed a less muddy course than usual.
