PBs a-plenty!

PRC runners took to the fells and the roads for a great week of racing.

Michael Todd took on the epic Hardmoors 60, a gruelling ultramarathon from Guisborough to Filey. Michael had an outstanding race in a strong field, finishing 7th overall in 10:57:44.  Simon Ridley tackled the race while still suffering jet lag after a trip to America, so was happy to complete the race, crossing the line in 16:51:45.

Over on the roads, 7 club runners went for a dash at the Derwent Dash 10k in Stamford Bridge. This fairly flat and fast course with a final sprint finish along the old railway viaduct path had the potential for some PBs, and PRC did not fail to deliver.   The ever-speedy Ben Myers completed in a super 39:01, coming 13th overall and achieving a new PB.  Keen roadster Paul Smith was not far behind Ben, coming in at 41:46 and 3rd in category.  Andy Harvey ran a well-paced race to achieve a PB of 44:12 and 8th in category. Richard Johnson was close behind, finishing in 44:42. Kelly Gaughan continued her preparation for the York Marathon with a strong showing in 50:35 and 7th in category. Kelly was accompanied by her mother Valerie who put in an excellent effort to finish in 59:08. Laura Echarri was focused on achieving a PB from the outset and duly obliged, with a brilliant 51:41. Linda McCulloch completed a fine PRC showing in 63:02.

Chris Adams travelled slightly afield to take part in the Due North Sharphaw Metric Marathon near Skipton.  This undulating course took runners over 26.2k of scenic countryside of the Dales, with almost 800m of total ascent.  Chris completed the challenging course in an excellent 3:21:00.

As summer has drawn to a close, the Esk Valley Fell Club announced the results of the Dave Parry Lets Run Summer Fell Race Series 2018.   Rachael Harper was 7th lady overall, and 4th in her age category. Serena Partridge achieved 7th in her age category. For the PRC men, Russ Charlton was 15th in the M50 category, and Graham Robinson and Mike Punchard achieved 15th and 18th in the M60 category respectively.  Mike Hetherton won a convincing 1st place in the M70 category.

Race reports

A huge Thankyou to you Rachel and to Lizzy for your excellent race reports. You certainly have to be on your toes with so many races going on and so much club activity. I think I must speak for all members when I say what a good job you are both doing. It’s much appreciated.
