A daring bunch on runners collected in Hessle early one morning for the Hardwolds 80 ultra marathon.  The weather was kind to the runners for the 80 mile journey following the Wolds way all the way passing up and down dale through Millington, Wharram Percy, Wintringham, Staxton and onto the coast at Filey.  Michael Todd didn’t need most of the 24 hour time limit to complete the challenging course in a very impressive 15 hours and 25 minutes to finish 13th in a very strong field.  The results have also been complied for the Hardmoors ultra marathon 2018 league and Michael finished in the top spot – a big well done!

An impressive turnout of 17 PRC runners took on the Eskdale Eureka on Sunday, the latest race in the Dave Parry Winter Fell Race Series. The weather was perfect for this challenging and muddy 9 mile run across the moors west of Castleton, sunshine, light showers and rainbows. Russ Grayson, braving the winter temperatures in vest and shorts was first back for PRC in 77:57, with Simon Rycroft close on his heels in 81:46. Experienced fell runner Rich Johnson ran a strong race in 86:57 closely followed by Andy Harvey in 90:58, Nick Cousins in 91:36 and Russ Charlton in 92:04. Paul Robinson demonstrated his experience of muddy, rocky terrain finishing in 102:18 and bagging a 2nd in category. A delighted Sue Slack ran a perfectly executed race and was first Pickering lady in 108:00, winning 1st place in her category. Mike Hetherton won 2nd in category finishing in 108:04. David Stephenson was close behind Sue and Mike in 108:16. Paul M Smith finished comfortably in 112:04. Serena Partridge was second Pickering lady back in 117:13 achieving 2nd in category, closely followed by Graham Robinson in 117:24 and Mike Punchard pleased with his time of 117:37. Sally Brown finished in 129:22 bringing home another 2nd in category prize for PRC. Jennifer Wise enjoyed the experience finishing strongly in 132:23 alongside mother Nicola Wise.

Simon and Shirley Tyrrell took on the Queenstown international marathon in glorious surroundings in New Zealand.  Simon had an amazing race to finish in 3.29.32 setting a new personal best and placing 1st in his age category.  Shirley also had a very good race and completed the 26.2 miles in 5 hours and 3 seconds
