Hardmoors success!

Many of the club’s members turned out for the Hardmoors Roseberry Topping event – the last and one of the most challenging of the 26.2 trail series. Runners enjoyed good weather conditions but still faced a long and tough course across all three race distances.

In the 10k, Jenny Storrie was pleased to finish the nearly 9 mile course in 1:42:23 and 8th lady. Mike Hetherton had a brilliant race, finishing in 1:32:49 and winning his age category.

In the half marathon event that was considerably longer than a usual half marathon at 15 miles, Amanda Welburn-Smith crossed the line in 3:24:31, very proud to have completed the full series of 7  half marathons during the year.  Simon Jones gave his usual speedy performance, coming 6th place overall and 2nd in his category in 2:22:54, followed by Serena Partridge in 4:03:59 and Linda McCullough in 4:57:13.  Jennifer Buck took on the half as the longest distance she had raced for months, so was very pleased to complete the event in 5:27:22.

Juliette Pilgrim and Philly Hare were among the intrepid runners taking on the 30 mile marathon event.  Juliette crossed the line in 6:57:13 and so completed the full marathon series, an amazing achievement.  Philly finished this challenging course in 9:27:30 and won her first (but not last!) Hardmoors trophy for a win in her age category.

In a more festive event, Nicola and Dean Wise took part in the Scarborough Santa Dash, and enjoyed the day despite feeling very warm in their Santa suits!
