Prizes galore at Christmas for PRC!

Before Christmas, over 500 runners attended the popular Loftus poultry run. 2018 was the 35th year this event has been held, and it is known for its great prizes. The event starts and finishes in Loftus, taking runners over different terrains on the roughly 8 mile course, including three challenging ascents.  Simon Tyrell put in a strong performance to come 2nd in category, winning a 8lb chicken and Mike Hetherton won a 6lb duck for achieving 3rd in his category. Most of the runners were slightly hampered by their festive Christmas outfits, but were compensated by a bottle of wine at the end.

On 27th December, over 200 runners came along to the Esk Valley Dave Parry Winter Series fell race at Guisborough Woods to burn off the excesses of the last couple of days on this tough 3 lap course. On this lovely sunny morning, runners took on this challenging course, which included frequent brambles and a very muddy, slippy descent. The atmosphere at the event was friendly and welcoming, with lots of friends and family cheering the runners on.  First across the line for PRC was Simon Rycroft, putting in his usual speedy performance to finish 32nd overall in 48:19. Hot on Simon’s heels, Russ Grayson finished 37th in 48:39. Nick Cousins put in a solid performance to cross the line in 58:35. Mike Hetherton completed the course in 62:33 to take 2nd in his age category. Sue Slack was next to finish for PRC, achieving 3rd in her age category in 64:31. David Stephenson finished in 67:30, closely followed by Debbie Rycroft in 74:57 and Mike Punchard in 75:14.  PRC also picked up lots of prizes from the last Winter series, for category wins and participation.
