Night time adventures

A few hardy Pickering Running Club members headed out to Dalby Forest to join 420 others for the No Ego night trail run.  The race took in 5 hilly miles over the rough forest terrain with some killer hills thrown into the mix.  To make it even tougher it took place in the cover of darkness, runners using headtorches to navigate their way through the trees.

Amanda Welburn-Smith was at home in the trees and had a great race despite falling the week before and hurting her knee.  She finished the challenge in 51.22, over a minute faster than last year.  Next back was Melissa Huntsman finishing in 52.32 followed by Louise Raines finishing in a superb 53.46.  Sally Raines and Jenny Storrie ran together to finish in a fabulous 1.08.33.

The prize winners for the Hardmoors grand slam were announced recently.  The Grand Slam consisted of four ultra-distance races starting at 30 miles, progressing to 55, 60 and then to an awesome 110 miles.  Pickering Running Club’s very own Michael Todd took the top spot overall beating off a very competitive field – huge congratulations!
