Pickering Running Club’s Ben Myers headed out to West Yorkshire with friend Ewan Gibb to tackle the Wadsworth Trogg, a 19 mile fell race organised by the Calder Valley Fell Runners with a reported 3,650 feet of elevation gain.  The challenge including navigating around the 13 checkpoints scattered over the wild moors.  Ben was rewarded with a lovely sunny day although it was bitingly cold with deep snow on the ground in places.  The pair had great fun and finished together in just under 4 hours, mid-way through the field of 200 runners

Also enjoying the wintery conditions was Michael Hetherton who has been competing in a different discipline – skiing!  Whilst in Switzerland Mr Hetherton took on the inferno ski race with his son Bill.  The pair had to cover 14.9km from the top of the Shilthorn mountain down to Lauterbruner in the valley 8000ft below with a short section of skating uphill at about halfway. 1850 competitors set off at 12 second intervals to try and avoid any collisions. It was last won by a brit in 1970 and unfortunately Michael was not able to change that but skied well to get down safely in 25 minutes and son Bill managed a speedier 17 minutes.
