Whilst taking some time out in New Zealand, the Tyrrell’s took on the Shotover Moonlight running event.  Simon entered the 30k trail run across the scenic Antipodean mountains winning first in category.  Wife Shirley opted for a shorter 10k option and also had a really good race to finish 2nd in her category.

Just one week after taking 7th place in a 30 mile off road trail event Alison Hyde was back racing, this time at the Bloodaxe Challenge, a 2 hour timed event consisting of laps of a 1k track in York.  Alison was not daunted by the repetitive nature of the race and completed 24 laps in the time allowed – almost 15 miles – and completing the 4th highest distance for a female competitor.

Meanwhile the Wises along with Pam Garnett headed towards Leeds for the Harewood House Half Marathon in aid of the British Heart Foundation.  The course was challenging and covered 13.1 miles over tricky terrain including mud and rocky tracks with plenty of steep hills to climb – an overall ascent of 1,200 feet.  Around 1,000 runners took part to run through the glorious estates enjoying sights of deer and red kites.  First back for the group was Lizzy Wise, a little disappointed to be a bit slower than last year but happy to complete the tough course in 2.06.01.  Mother Nicola Wise wasn’t far behind in 2.15.43 pleased at being just over 3 minutes faster than last year.  Jennifer Wise was the next to finish in 2.26.13 with Pam Garnett crossing the line after her in 2.33.01.  Father Dean Wise rounded off the PRC bunch to finish in 2.44.12 a fabulous 12 minutes faster than last year.
