Our weekly run is on a Thursday evening usually at 7pm. On Tuesdays we have a different session incorporating speed work, hill training and generally more aerobic work.

Where do you meet?
Winter months we alternate between Pickering (Recreation Club) and Malton (Cricket Club), running usually on road around the town. Once a month we meet in Dalby forest for a night run.
Summer runs are widely scattered across our area and are all trail runs. All venues and times are on the website.
Tuesday sessions are in Malton, usually at the sports centre.

Are beginners welcome?
Absolutely! Whilst many members enjoy racing, we are all different. Generally on a Thursday run there will be different groups who run 'speedy', 'steady' or 'very steady'. Often we have a walking group so that members who are unable to run can still meet and enjoy the company. We would expect you to be able to run 5km, at about 6 to 6:30 min/km pace. There are usually one or two reset breaks as well. We never leave anyone behind.

Do you take part in any races?
We do! As a club are are part of the Esk Valley Fell Club series (winter and summer) and we provide two races in the programme, the Saltersgate Gallows and Lockton Limping. We are also in the East Yorkshire Cross Country League and the York and District Road Race League. Members regularly run the full range of events from park run to ultras, so there is a wealth of advice to dig into if needed.

How much does it cost?
Please feel free to try us out and come to 2 or 3 sessions to see if we are what you are looking for. If you decide to join we charge a modest £23 annually (check with us to see if this has changed recently). We are affiliated to England Athletics so if you want to join EA we can do that for you at their annual cost (£20 in 2025)

I don't have access to a car, can I still join?
Public transport in the evening in Ryedale is not particularly good. We have members scattered throughout the area so it may well be possible to offer you a lift on a week by week basis. Please contact us to check.

Would I be expected to do any of the club organisation work?
We are keen that all members have the opportunity to contribute in their own way to the club itself. We are all busy people but even helping out now and again can make a huge difference to the continued success of the club. Please offer to help, if you can, when asked.
Please check out our CODE OF CONDUCT before you make a final decision.
