It was a hot and dusty event for the 114 runners in the Hardmoors Farndale Half Marathon at the weekend making it a tough challenge. Being Hardmoors there were some extra miles for free to add to the fun so instead of the usual 13.2 miles, it was 16 miles with 2,400 feet of climb and descent. For those who enjoy splashing through mud, this race would have been a disappointment as, after so long without rain, the ground was rock hard. Richard Newbert was justifiably delighted to complete the course 6 minutes faster than last year, in a time of 2 hours 39 minutes placing him13th overall and 3rd M50. Malc Hodgson also had an excellent race finishing in 2:46, earning him the trophy for 1st M60. He was 17th overall. Lynn Humpleby walked the route with poles and did some bonus miles making it a very long half marathon indeed. Lynn completed 18 miles in 5:35

The Farndale 10k was just over 8 miles with over 1,000 feet of climb. First back for PRC was Sarah Hodgson in 1 hour 59 minutes and Graham Robinson’s time of 2 hours 12 minutes placed him 2nd M70.

Hats off to Chris Adams who was sweeper for the 29 mile route of the full marathon, making sure the 100 runners returned safely. He followed the last runner across the line in 9 hours 10 minutes.

Paul Smith was the only representative from PRC to run the Osmotherley Show Race. The 10k route took runners over the moors with 1,000 feet of climb. Paul’s time of 59 minutes 53 seconds placed him 3rd M65.

Simon and Shirley Tyrrell ran the Charleville parkrun in Australia, at one point a kangaroo was in the lead!
