Huge congratulations to Chris Adams who completed the Hardmoors 60 at the weekend. The race starts in Guisborough at 8am on Saturday morning. Runners then traverse the 63.7 miles of the Cleveland Way coast path to Filey, stopping only briefly at checkpoints. Their journey certainly has its ups and downs, both mentally and physically, with 9,600 feet of climb and descent. Conditions were fine and dry underfoot, unlike last year, but blustery. Chris made excellent progress, and paced himself well, finishing in the early hours of Sunday morning, with a time of 18 hours 5 minutes. Of the 164 runners, 46 did not make it to the finish line. Well done Chris.

On Sunday, the last race of the Summer Fell Race Series took place, The Fryup Frazzler. Although conditions were fine and dry underfoot runners had to contend with extreme winds over the 6 mile course, which are always more of a hindrance than a help. The hilly course based at the Cycle Hub packs in 1,500 feet of climb with a long slog out of the valley near the start. It was a good turnout from PRC with the usual plethora of prizes. First back was Dave Smith in 51 minutes 51 seconds placing him 1st M55, then came Simon Rycroft in 55:13, 2nd M50, Charles Corbett in 65:01 and Paul Smith in 68:08, 3rd M65, Then came a trio of Pickering ladies, all within a minute of each other: Alice Hayter in 69:04, 1st F50, Lucy Saggers in 69:19, 1st F55 and Jo Towler in 69:56, 2nd F50. They were followed by David Stephenson in 71:03. Sarah Beal, in her first fell race, crossed the finish line in 71:17, then came Lynn Humpleby in 73:16, Nicola Thorpe in 75:20, 1st F60 and Sue Slack in 76:05, 1st F65.

The provisional series results show the Pickering Ladies Team placed top of the leaderboard for the second year running. Will confirm this and the individual category winners when the final results are announced, meanwhile space needs to be found in those already full trophy cabinets!
