A very busy weekend of running for PRC

Pickering runners excelled in a number of disparate events last weekend.

Karen Harper joined over 1,000 competitors running the Kielder Half Marathon. Despite the route being around the reservoir, it was surprisingly hilly with 1,000 feet of climb. Karen had a great run finishing in 2 hours 19 minutes

Shawn Imeson chose a busy city half marathon, the Manchester Half, joining 22,917 people racing through the streets. Shawn did well considering he had only done a parkrun in training! He finished in 2 hours 10 minutes.

The weekend also saw the running of the Fadmoor 10k, a small local event. Sarah Beal was first back for Pickering in 54:22 with Lynn Humpleby chasing her down in 54:31. Serena Partridge crossed the finish line in 58:56.

Charles Corbett tackled the challenging MADROQ Tri in  Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France. The event comprises a 1 mile sea swim, a 25 mile bike ride, with a punishing 3,000ft of climb, and a 10k run which was made tougher by the high temperatures. Charles crossed the finish line in a total time of 3 hours 39 minutes.

Although not running related, Bridget Houlston of Pickering Running Club deserves a mention. Bridget swam

33k over 4 days in the choppy seas around Montenegro, an extraordinary achievement.
