Some serious running this weekend....

The standout performance this week goes to Simon Rycroft who ran the Madeira Ultra X 50k, an island adventure through volcanic peaks, levadas, forest trails, ocean cliffs and dramatic Atlantic landscapes. The tough course, with over 8,600 feet of climb, was made even tougher by torrential rain but despite this Simon thoroughly enjoyed the event and had a great run finishing 7th overall in 6 hours 50 minutes. Over 55 people did not make it to the finish line due to the challenging weather making parts of the course hazardous.

Lynn Humpleby and Graham Robinson ran the Hardmoors Sutton Sizzler. The tough 8.5 mile route around Sutton Bank packed in over 1,000 feet of climb. It started at 7pm so runners needed good head torches to navigate the rooty, muddy tracks, creating a magical string of bobbing lights making their way among the trees. Lynn had an excellent run, finishing 5th female with her time of 1 hour 25 minutes. Graham struggled with the cold which made breathing with his oxygen cylinder tough but he still managed to achieve 1st M70 with his time of 2:33.

Two people in PRC took on October challenges. John Henry Cheetham ran 10k every day. Sue Slack took a cold plunge every day in October, braving the North Sea and various streams and pools, to raise awareness and funds for Surfers against Sewage via her justgiving page, a heroic achievement.
