A great week for PRC

The weather was perfect for racing last weekend; clear skies, sunny with a cooling breeze. Shirley Tyrrell thoroughly enjoyed the Charm Bracelet Marathon, a 27.6 mile race along the Cleveland Way. The coastal scenery and the many climbs, totalling 2,583 feet, were breathtaking. Shirley did brilliantly to finish in 6 hours 43 minutes, placing her 3rd F60, only 9 minutes behind the 1st in category, and a very impressive 116th out of 200 runners.

It was another good turnout from PRC for the Guisborough Moors Fell Race, the penultimate counter in the Winter Fell Race Series. This was one of the more challenging races, a 12.3 mile route taking in some tough climbs including Captain Cook’s Monument, Roseberry Topping, Little Roseberry and Highcliff Nab totalling 2,326 feet of elevation. Simon Rycroft was first back for PRC in 1 hour 48 minutes, placing him 2nd M50 and 20th overall out of 141 competitors. Mike Richmond was next in 1 hour 55 minutes. Kelly Richmond’s time of 1 hour 59 minutes placed her 7th female and Kim Cavill was 8th female in 2 hours 1 minute. Kim was followed by Mike Wilson in 2 hours 8 minutes which placed him 3rd M65. The final Winter Series results are eagerly awaited by PRC after the last race as many are in line for individual and team prizes.

Dave Smith chose to join 138 competitors tackling the Worksworth Incline Fell Race. At 4.2 miles and 600 feet of climb, this is basically a fast and furious charge up a hill and back down again. Dave’s time of 30 minutes 24 seconds placed him 3rd M50, less than a minute behind the 1st, and 13th overall, just 4 minutes behind the winner.

Andrew Bates took on the Run through Regents Park 10k with his son Nathan who helped him to a time of 49 minutes 58 seconds placing him 3rd M55.
