The Green vests have been out in force this week!

There was much excitement among the 481 runners on the start line for the Tadcaster 10k, the first race in the York and District Road Race League. Conditions for this undulating road race were unseasonably hot making it hard work especially on the hills. First back for PRC in a cracking time of 40 minutes 41 seconds was Paul Simpson. Richard Robinson wasn’t far behind in 40 minutes 57 seconds then came Mike Richmond in 41 minutes 59 seconds. They were followed by Peter Kelham in 44 minutes 8 seconds, Paul Hickman in 45 minutes 12 seconds, Kirsty Brown in 45 minutes 53 seconds achieving a 10k personal best, Dave Owuor in 48 minutes 42 seconds, Ben Paviour in 48 minutes 53 seconds, Colin Garnett in 49 minutes 6 seconds, Andy Harvey in 50 minutes 23 seconds, Lucy Saggers in 51 minutes 58 seconds, Suzy Hodgson in 52 minutes 36 seconds and Julie Ventress in 54 minutes exactly. Shawn Imeson was next across the line in 54 minutes 12 seconds, followed by Serena Partridge in 56 minutes 13 seconds, Emily Marner in 56 minutes 42 seconds, Paul Tate-Smith in 57 minutes 56 seconds, Karen Harper in 60 minutes 6 seconds, Dean Wise in 61 minutes 4 seconds, Mike Punchard in 64 minutes 33 seconds, Debbie Adams in 64 minutes 47 seconds, Pam Garnett in 65 minutes 46 seconds and Nicola Wise in 66 minutes exactly.

There was also a great turnout from PRC for the Kirkbymoorside 10k, part of a day of bank holiday weekend festivities. The weather was much cooler with a brisk headwind on the long first climb. Runners were treated to a cooling shower and the slower runners had a second soaking. The race finishes with a wonderful sprint down the High Street amidst cheers from the many enthusiastic supporters. Chris Croft had a brilliant run finishing in 36 minutes 14 seconds, which placed him 2nd overall out of 403 runners. Ben Myers was 7th overall clocking 38 minutes 29 seconds. He was followed by Dave Smith in 39 minutes 28 seconds, 2nd M50 and 13th overall, and Richard Robinson in 39 minutes 53 seconds, 16th overall. Paul Simpson crossed the line next in 40 minutes 3 seconds closely followed by Simon Jones in 40 minutes 7 seconds, 3rd M50. Then came Ollie Baxter in 42 minutes 22 seconds. A PRC stampede followed Olly with Kelly Richmond, 4th female, Ryan Gaughan and Mike Richmond all clocking 42 minutes 35 seconds. Boyd Brad was next in 44 minutes 12 seconds, followed by Russ Grayson in 45 minutes 3 seconds, Paul Hickman in 45 minutes 27 seconds and Paul Smith in 47 minutes 52 seconds which placed him 3rd M60. Paul was followed by Jessica Chadwick in 48 minutes 4 seconds, Rachel Harper in 48 minutes 32 seconds, 3rd F40, Rich Johnson in 49 minutes 49 seconds and Suzy Hodgson in 51 minutes 13 seconds, 3rd F50. Lynn Humpleby was hot on Suzy’s heels in a time of 51 minutes 19 seconds and Erin Outram was next in 52 minutes 54 seconds followed by Serena Partridge in 53 minutes 58 seconds. Sue Slack was justifiably delighted with her time of 54 minutes 12 seconds which placed her 1st F60. It was Dianne Stockdale’s first race with PRC and she had an excellent run finishing in 59 minutes 32 seconds. Dean Wise was next in 61 minutes 58 seconds followed by Mike Punchard in 62 minutes 43 seconds, Sally Edwards in 62 minutes 50 seconds, Debbie Adams in 64 minutes 33 seconds, Nicola Wise in 65 minutes 56 seconds and Lisa Adams in 66 minutes 44 seconds.

As mentioned in last week’s write up the Pickering Running Club Ladies Team won the Winter Fell Race Series. There were also some individual prizes and top three placings. Kelly Richmond won the prize for 1st female out of 273 with an exciting last race as she was just 1 point ahead of the runner up. Kim Cavill was 1st F40. Alice Hayter, 3rd F45. Lucy Saggers, 3rd F50. Nicola Thorpe, 2nd F55. Karen Farmer-Scott 3rd F60. Well done ladies. Mike Hetherton was 1st M75. In the region of £8,000 was raised for charity during the course of the series.
