Another busy week for PRC

Tuesday 13th saw the running of the 2nd race in the York and District Road Race League, Pocklington 10k. It was a balmy evening for this out and back course, the first 3 miles being mainly uphill then a fast and furious return down to the finish with faster runners shouting encouragement to their slower team mates as they sped past. Ben Myers was first back for PRC in a blistering 38 minutes 56 seconds placing him 45th out of 473 runners. Then came Richard Robinson in 39 minutes 57 seconds, Mike Richmond in 41 minutes 19 seconds, Peter Kelham in 42 minutes 22 seconds and Paul Hickman in 45 minutes 13 seconds. Only 2 seconds behind Paul, Kirsty Brown was first PRC female clocking a very swift 45 minutes 15 seconds. Charles Corbett was next in 45 minutes 25 seconds closely followed by Ben Paviour in 48 minutes 48 seconds, Dave Owuor in 49 minutes 26 seconds, Mike Wilson in 49 minutes 32 seconds, Andy Harvey in 50 minutes 3 seconds, Lucy Saggers in 50 minutes 35 seconds, Suzy Hodgson in 53 minutes 12 seconds, Julie Ventress in 53 minutes 38 seconds, Emily Marner in 54 minutes 39 seconds and Serena Partridge in 54 minutes 58 seconds. Paul Tate-Smith crossed the finish line in 56 minutes 48 seconds followed by Karen Harper in 58 minutes 8 seconds, Carol Wilson in 59 minutes 38 seconds, Mike Punchard in 62 minutes 16 seconds, Shirley Tyrrell in 64 minutes 43 seconds, Sally Brown in 66 minutes 5 seconds and Heather Riley in 70 minutes 47 seconds.

At the weekend, Alison Hyde took on a crazy event, Deadly Dozen Middlesbrough, 12 laps of a 400m race track with various weight and strength exercises in between each lap. Alison loved the challenge, and her time of 1 hour 17 minutes placed her 1st F60.

The latest counter in the Summer Fell Race Series took place on Sunday, Bilsdale Fell Race. At 12 miles with a huge 3,128 feet of elevation, this is one of the toughest races in the series. Russ Grayson had an excellent run finishing first for Pickering, and 21st overall, in a time of 2 hours 23 minutes. Russ was followed by Nicola Thorpe whose time of 2 hours 44 minutes placed her 2nd F55, missing the 1st spot by only 20 seconds. Alice Hayter was only 3 seconds behind Nicola, also clocking 2 hours 44 minutes and earning her the prize for 1st F45. Lynn Humpleby was 3rd F45 with her time of 2 hours 54 minutes. Mike Richmond cycled 38 miles to get to the race but due to various factors arrived 1 hour late! Undeterred, he ran anyway managing to achieve an astonishing 3 hours 14 minutes from the start of the race and overtaking several people on the way!

Also on Sunday, Suzy Hodgson ran the Manchester 10k in a very strong time of 52 minutes 6 seconds.
