A crazy week for PRC runners!

Of all the achievements last week, Suzy Hodgson and Paul Simpson win the prize for the craziest! They completed the Dalby Inferno, 12 x 5km hilly laps in Dalby Forest with each lap starting on the hour, every hour, totalling 60km. For those faster runners there is more time to rest in between each lap. For some people, especially towards the end of the event there is hardly any break at all. The last lap is a race which Paul managed to complete in a very impressive 28 minutes and Suzy…..Results?

There was a plethora of prizes for PRC in the latest counter in the Summer Fell Race League, The Whorlton Fell Race. At 6.8 miles with just over 1,000 feet of ascent and a lot of tarmac for a fell race this is one of the least challenging events in the series. Richard Robinson certainly made it look easy cruising across the finish line in 52 minutes 42 seconds. Next came Russ Grayson in 58 minutes 17 seconds and Paul Smith in 63 minutes 8 seconds, 3rd M65. Lucy Saggers crossed the line in 66 minutes 45 seconds placing her 2nd F50. Lynn Humpleby was 2nd F45 with her time of 67 minutes 38 seconds and Nicola Thorpe’s time of 67 minutes 50 seconds placed her 2nd F55. Nick Cousins finished in 73 minutes 17 seconds closely followed by Serena Partridge in 73 minutes 47 seconds

It was a lovely evening for the Sledmere Sunset Trail 10k a beautiful race around the grounds of Sledmere House. There was an awesome sprint finish between Ryan Gaughan and Chris Croft resulting in them both achieving a brilliant time of 39 minutes 10 seconds placing them 7th and 8th out of 310 runners. Charles Corbett in crossed the line 49 minutes 41 seconds.

Andrew Bates ran the Lakeland Trails Coniston Marathon, a tough technical course with a mixture of rooty, rocky, wet, muddy and boggy trails. Added to this there was 1,100m of climb making this an arduous challenge. Andrew was justifiably delighted with his time of 5 hours 34 minutes.

Simon Jones and Serena Partridge ran the Top of the Wolds 10k, a hilly farmland race. Simon’s outstanding time of 42 minutes 34 seconds placed him 1st M55 and 8th overall and Serena finished in 60 minutes 24 seconds.

Runners were treated to another excellent morning of fine weather for the Filey Beach 10k, a mad dash along the beautiful sands of Filey Bay. First back for PRC was Chris Croft in 43 minutes 55 seconds placing him 23rd out of 228. A flurry of Pickering runners then crossed the finish line; Mike Richmond in 44 minutes 50 seconds, Russ Grayson in 44 minutes 53 seconds, Kelly Richmond in 45 minutes and Ryan Gaughan in 45 minutes 1 second. They were followed by Charles Corbett in 53 minutes 44 seconds and Lynn Humpleby in 54 minutes 20 seconds. Graham Robinson power walked in 82 minutes 9 seconds.

Shawn Imeson tackled the Settle Saunter, a 12.7 mile hilly romp across the moors with 1,445 feet of climb.
