Helmsley Triathlon and Duathlon took place on Sunday based at the open air swimming pool. Mike Richmond and Andrew Garside chose to compete in the Triathlon: 800m pool swim, 40k hilly bike ride which was tough in the wind and a 10k run. Mike thoroughly enjoyed the event and breezed across the finish line in an excellent time of 2 hours 23 minutes, placing him 6th overall. Andrew Garside also did well finishing in 3 hours 5 minutes.
Bridget Houlston, Sue Slack and Sally Brown chose the duathlon option, a 400m swim and a 10k run. Bridget finished in a very competitive 1 hour 9 minutes followed by Sue in 1 hour 20 minutes and Sally crossed the line in 1 hour 35 minutes.
Paul Simpson ran the SeeYorkRunYork ‘Schools Out’ 6 hour challenge. The flat, 3.65 mile lapped course was based on the Knavesmire. Paul decided to do 4 laps totalling 14.6 miles and taking him just over a half marathon in 2 hours 16 minutes.
Escrick 10k also took place at the weekend. This local race has grown in popularity over recent years.
Ben Myers ran a very speedy 38 minutes 43 seconds placing him 11th overall out of 586. Chloe Riley was next in 57 minutes 52 seconds followed by sister Heather Riley in 72 minutes 21 seconds.
