Running with the stars this weekend!

Michael Todd had a cracking race in the Ripon Round Ultra, a 35 mile circular route with over 4,000 feet of climb. Michael was 1st M50 and 6th overall with his excellent time of 5 hours 52 minutes

Sisters Chloe and Heather ran the Kielder Marathon, a beautiful route around Kielder Reservoir on a lovely sunny autumn day although it was very windy. The course is surprisingly hilly with nearly 2,000 feet of ascent, considering it follows the shoreline and is classed as an ultra as it is just over the marathon distance. Chloe and Heather ran together and found the going tough finishing in a heroic 6 hours 50 minutes.

Serena Partridge and Simon Jones chose to run the Kielder Half Marathon. Simon found himself in good company, running next to Paula Radcliffe and Sophie Rayworth. The star studded competition must have spurred Simon on as he finished in a fantastic time of 1 hour 32 minutes placing him 2nd in his age category and 24th out of over 1000 starters. Serena struggled as she hadn’t run more than 10k in a long time and had a bad cold. She still managed to finish this hilly race in 2 hours 14 minutes.

The Fadmoor 10k, a small, local, annual race in the very hilly countryside around the moors of the old English Lord Fadda, also took place on Sunday. In his first race in a PRC vest, Andrew Garside stormed across the finish line in 53 minutes 2 seconds placing him 4th overall. Lucy Saggers also had an excellent race and was the 1st female overall in 53 minutes 57 seconds. Then came Lynn Humpleby in 57 minutes 19 seconds, Alice Hayter in 61 minutes 27 seconds and Mike Punchard in 67 minutes 4 seconds.
