A quite week for running.

There was only one local race last weekend and only one member of Pickering Running Club took part. The Valhalla Challenge was organised by the wonderfully inclusive SeeYorkRunYork in the grounds of York University. The 2.2 mile route is an out and back incorporating a slight ascent that in York terms is challenging but is really just a pimple. Competitors can choose how many laps they do, providing they finish within 6 hours. Regardless of distance run, all receive a medal, goody bag, a choice of homemade cakes and mulled wine. Distances achieved within 6 hours ranged from 35 miles (16 laps) which requires considerable mental and physical fortitude to just 1 lap.
Paul Simpson of Pickering had a brilliant run completing 6 laps (13.2 miles) which equates to a half marathon in 2 hours exactly placing him 2nd in this distance.
