Another successful week for PRC

The last race in the East Yorkshire Cross Country League took place on Sunday at Sewerby. The 5.6 mile route led runners along the cliff tops, down Danes Dyke towards Flamborough, through some gloopy, muddy fields, then it was back through Danes Dyke and a lovely cliff top charge across the grass to the finish line. To be speedy in this race, runners had to be confident on steps, steep slopes and slippery mud, i.e. fit and fearless! First back for Pickering was Mike Richmond in a brilliant 39 minutes 43 seconds, which placed him 38th overall. Only 6 seconds later, Simon Jones crossed the line in 39 minutes 49 seconds placing him 2nd M55. Keeping them in her sights, Kelly Richmond was 5th female overall with her time of 40 minutes 45 seconds. Steve Lightfoot was next in 42 minutes 40 seconds, followed by Kirsty Brown in 43 minutes 32 seconds and Richard Robinson in 45 minutes 4 seconds. Paul Smith was 3rd M65 with his time of 46 minutes 14 seconds. Dave Owuor was close behind in 46 minutes 56 seconds and Karen Farmer-Scott’s time of 47 minutes 45 seconds placed her 1st F60. Next was Andrew Garside in 49 minutes 32 seconds, Richard Johnson in 50 minutes 20 seconds and Serena Partridge in 57 minutes 42 seconds. Jenny Richards was 1st F65 in 58 minutes 57 seconds. Then came Sally Brown in 64 minutes 59 seconds, Mike Punchard in 69 minutes 1 second and Dean Wise, 3rd M70, in 75 minutes 55 seconds.
The race was followed by refreshments and the series prize giving in Sewerby Village Hall. Well done to Kelly Richmond who received a prize for being 7th female overall across the series and to Jenny Richards who was presented with the 2nd F65 prize. Josie Rawes, who was in line for 1st female until she broke her ankle in the Dalby Forest race, received a bouquet of flowers with best wishes for a speedy recovery and winning a prize next year. The Pickering Ladies team were 3rd for the series.

Also on Sunday, Shawn Imeson joined over 18,000 runners for the Cambridge Half Marathon, a stunning 13.1 miles route route through the heart of the historic city and along the River Cam. Shawn had a good run finishing in 1 hour 57 minutes.

Andrew Bates ran the Fradley 10k, near Lichfield, a fast and flat 2 lap course around the small village of Fradley. Andrew’s time of 48 minutes 55 seconds put him in the top 30% of the 1150 runners.
