Running all over the world!

Glaisdale Rigg, the latest event in the Summer Fell Race Series, took place on Wednesday evening in beautiful sunshine, although a tad warm for a tough 8.8 miles with over 1,100 feet of climb. Simon Rycroft was first back for Pickering and 3rd M50 in a time of 1 hour 19 minutes. Next came Alice Hayter, 1st F50, in 1:31 with Paul Smith just 16 seconds behind, also clocked 1:31. Next was Richard Johnson in 1:33 and Lucy Saggers was 1st F55 with her time of 1:34. Lucy was followed by David Stephenson in 1:37, Nick Cousins in 1:38 and Lynn Humpleby in 1:39. Sue Slack was pleased to be back fell running and thoroughly enjoyed the race. Despite some navigational issues Sue was 2nd F65 and crossed the finish line in 1:51.

2 Pickering runners chose crowds and tarmac rather than hills and quiet countryside for their weekend race, joining 38,000 competitors in the Great Manchester Half Marathon. Andrew Bates and his son Nathan who was running his first half marathon were pleased to finish in 1 hour 51 minutes, a 13 minute course personal best for Andrew. Suzy Hodgson crossed the finish line in 2 hours 29 seconds ahead of her 2 daughters who also competed.

Shawn Imeson completed the Settle Saunter, a lovely 13 mile route with 1,700 feet of climb, in 2 hours 51 minutes.

Also opting for a hilly, scenic event, Simon Rycroft ran the Montane Ullswater Way, a 10 mile route with over 1,700 feet of ascent. Despite his success at the fell race earlier in the week, he only just missed out on 3rd place by 30 seconds clocking 1 hour 34 minutes. Debbie Rycroft chose the 20 mile event, actually 21.5 miles, a complete circuit of Ulswater, finishing in 5 hours 47 minutes.

Jemima Edwards tackled the Dead Cow Gully, a bonkers challenge which took place in beautiful countryside northwest of Brisbane, Australia. The challenge was brutal: 6.7k laps on the hour every hour, until you can\'t do any more. Jemima had set herself the goal of 24 hours and 160k but after 15 hours and 16 loop the loops she was “cooked” and called it a day having completed over 100k and achieving a personal best for this distance.
